Family Home Renovation

A contemporary North Vancouver home filled with multi-function family spaces

With a great location and an awkward floor plan, the owners of this 80s house wanted a new kitchen/laundry/family room that met the needs of their growing family. The kitchen was completely re-designed to provide an efficient work zone, a family breakfast bar and a pantry wall.

The adjacent area was gutted to create a new casual dining nook in a bay window overlooking the garden with custom upholstered benches and a dramatic light fixture. Off the kitchen and nook area, two sliding doors hide the entry to the laundry room/mud room that was also completely re-planned to provide proper coat storage as well as a beautiful laundry room matching the kitchen cabinetry beyond the sliding doors. When closed, the sliding doors leave a family planning centre with magnetic walls to hang “artwork” and reminder notes. By removing an un-used fireplace, the family room was opened up to the view with a larger picture window and direct access to the back yard.
